Friday. Nowhere to be. Nothing to do. I call pajama day!!!
I basically lay in bed and did nothing until after 9, at which point I got up and ate breakfast. Then I totally WENT BACK TO BED (which is unheard of for me...) until after noon! Didn't really sleep, just lay there and dozed. That's when Alex woke up the first time though. :)
After that I was online for some of the time, read a very little of my Spanish version of 100 Years of Solitude, and organized my stuff. By then it was almost lunch time - Maria (the house cleaning lady who comes twice a week) kicked us out of our room by telling us to go eat lunch (so she could clean our room). I think it was soup... I don't remember. After that I took a shower and shaved my legs... since we were leaving for the beach in the morning. I told my host mom later that I had a horrible razor, and she told me Alex and I could use this hair-dissolving cream that her last students left. She said she can't read the directions because they are written to small, so she doesn't use it.
Hung out until dinner, which Maria-Carmen was here for (tortilla again, with that salsa/chili stuff and coconut yogurt) - we ate lunch before she came home because of Maria. There was this issue with her thinking we had NOT told her we were going to San Jose with API this weekend... which was not true. On Wednesday Alex and I had told her we would be going to San Jose on Saturday, and would need food for lunch. We know we told her this because she responded with something about how we couldn't take food from the refrigerator, because it would need to stay cold. Alex and I were confused about this response, because, duh. But we just let it go. I guess she didn't understand that we would be going on an API excursion, I dunno. But when we mentioned sandwiches again Friday (that we would need them the next morning), she got all upset that we 'hadn't told her'. She didn't have sandwich food available, and I think she went shopping last minute for us... I'm not sure. Eli talked to me about it on the beach too though, and apparently she had called Eli asking if we had an excursion! And Eli was like 'yes, but why don't you ask them about it' and whatnot. All just very silly...
After dinner Alex went out, but I stayed home and packed for San Jose. When I was finished with that, I ended up watching movies dubbed in Spanish with my host mom for much of the rest of the evening. When Alex got home I went to bed with her.

yay for dubbed movies!! always more exciting in different languages!
ReplyDeleteNOT TRUE. The voices they use to dub movies in Spanish are ALWAYS THE SAME, and are really annoying!!! Ugh! They are just horrible! We all agree we would rather watch subtitles. You loose so much when the dialogue doesn't match with the mouth and expressions - ya know?
