Last title... since I'm here...

So I didn't actually emerge from my room until almost 2 pm... I think my host mom thought I had left... :) We had lunch at 3, Alex came home for it, and it consisted of Arroz de Columbia - which is an egg, covered in rice, covered in a type of marinara sauce, with hot dog pieces on top. Really good, as always! Especially the sauce on stale bread... mm! ;)

After lunch Amelia called and we decided to all meet and study together for the upcoming placem
ent exam. We all met at Correos, as usual, and wandered around looking for a place to study. The idea was tossed around about going to a movie, since it would be intense Spanish for at least an hour and a half, but we decided we are too cheap. :) Looking back, btw, I only brought 75 Euro cash from home, and I still had 40 Euro of it - through Madrid and my first days in Granada. Go ME!!! :D I did buy a pastry from one of the tented vendors set up in the plaza (it tasted like merengue wrapped in a croissant), and Chris and Sean both got pastries with Nutella inside. We kinda waited around for Ethan, who was coming late, and then sat down while some of my friends got drinks. After, we decided that we were going to split up - we had met up with another girl from our program, and so she, Chris and I started walking to make sure we could find the school again, while Amelia, Sean, Jacobo and Ethan went shopping for some last things. We basically walked to the school, then all walked home. :)

Maria-Carmen went to visit her mom for dinner, since she was a little sick, and told us dinner was ready, just needed to be reheated. I started skyping, and Alex kept walking by and mentioning that she didn't know what we were supposed to do to prep dinner. I finally got off skype to help, and realized why she was so confused. Maria-Carmen had left us both long sub sandwiches and berry yogurt, but she had been working with a pumpkin earlier, and had the innards and seeds on a small plate that matched the ones she always serves on. Alex had thought we were supposed to eat that, and had heated it up and tried it (but thought it was gross). :) When Maria-Carmen came home and saw it, she thought it was funny, but poor Alex was so embarrassed!

We went back to Ethan's house again, minus Sean (he said he may meet us there later, but didn't). Amelia and Jacobo had bought a Spanish version of Scrabble, so we could play and practice Spanish vocabulary at the same time. THEY played, while I proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. You know how you will wake up when someone says your name though? They kept saying, 'I think Tina is asleep' and I would wake up and say 'No, I'm just laying here'. Totally not true - I was asleep off and on for about an hour and a half. :) Finally we all went home and to bed!

I woke up this morning early to skype again, and didn't emerge until a little after 1 to grab a banana and some toast for breakfast. Poor Maria-Carmen is going to think I just sleep the day away... She then left again for her mom's house, but told us lunch was prepared, and that ALL WE HAD TO DO was heat the soup and the onions. ;) So we did that. The soup was Creme de Calabaza (Cream of Pumpkin), and almost tasted slightly like a marinara sauce... I thought it was AMAZING! But there was a huge portion of it! Alex didn't really like it, but I ate all of mine! There was also some kind of sliced meat with the onion 'salsa' that went on top of it. I'm so glad that I brought 4 pairs of jeans - two that fit, and two that are big. I'm going to need those second two... planned ahead on that one! :)

I stayed in our room writing and studying the rest of the afternoon until dinner. Alex went with most of the API group to a bullfight near Ethan's house, but I really wasn't interested in going. For a while I lay down, because I wasn't feeling well, but was awaken by the explosions outside (fireworks). This weekend there was a festival going on, and everyone and their mother was out and about in celebration. Dinner was prepared as soon as our host mom came home, and was Tortilla (which is a main dish in Spain - basically like a quiche, with lots of potatoes and onions in it). I dipped it in Katsup - which has cinnamon in it here! It's more BBQ sauce-ish... it's way better than at home! We also had some leftover chicken that was really good (I don't have any idea what the sauce it was in was...) and peach yogurt. :)

After dinner I went with Alex to a bar with her friends that they had been to the night before. Drinks were pretty cheap, and the place was not bad. I tried a glass of Sangria, which is a type of sweet wine with fruit. It was ok, but I'm not really a wine person... so I probably wouldn't get it again. We talked a lot about traveling, and who is going where when. Alex and I came back pretty early (poor Alex was falling asleep the whole evening), a little after midnight, and I finished Blogging while she went to bed.

  2. Yeah, we had a study session today too, which was helpful, but way too short. Alex and I are looking over my notebook tonight...
